Antonio Conte has broken his silence on his exit from Tottenham Hotspur, posting a farewell message to the club and its supporters on social media.
The Italian’s departure was confirmed on Sunday night by mutual consent after a turbulent press conference in which he criticized his players and board members.
Conte, who helped Spurs qualify for the Champions League last season, thanked everyone at the club who shared his passion for football and his intense way of coaching.
He also expressed his gratitude to the fans who supported him and sang his name, saying that it was unforgettable.
The future of Tottenham now remains uncertain, with Cristian Stellini set to take over as acting head coach until the end of the season alongside assistant Ryan Mason.
Spurs are currently in contention to qualify for the Champions League again this season, sitting fourth in the Premier League, two points ahead of Newcastle United, who have played two games fewer.
According to reports, Julian Nagelsmann is a target for Spurs in their hunt for a new head coach, along with Luis Enrique, Roberto De Zerbi, Marco Silva, Thomas Frank, and Mauricio Pochettino.
Nagelsmann was previously considered by Tottenham in 2021 as a replacement for Jose Mourinho but opted to move to Bayern Munich instead.
The departure of Conte after just 17 games in charge will undoubtedly create further instability at Spurs, who have already undergone a significant amount of change in recent years.
However, the club will be hoping to find a suitable replacement quickly to ensure they remain competitive in both the Premier League and Europe.
